The RE900XD is unlike other range extenders in its league. With a more powerful 160MHz channel bandwidth, it ensures your devices stay connected while you are roaming in and out of the room. Additionally, you get data speeds of up to 6000 Mbps with 8× Wi-Fi streams and much more. However, to make the best out of these features, you will need to set things up. This blog will walk you through the complete information on how to set up your TP-Link RE900XD range extender using easy-to-follow steps.
Things you’ll need
Before you get your hands on the setup, make sure to collect details about the main router. In order to connect your extender to the router device, you’ll need access to the network details. These include the router SSID and the network password. If you do not have the details, you might need to log in to the router settings console and then obtain the same.
Furthermore, you’ll need the admin access credentials pertaining to your range extender device. These can be found on the product label present on the rear of the device. Or, you can refer to the details available in the product manual. For reference now, you can consider the following details:
Admin username: admin
Admin password: password/1234/admin
Default login gateway: https://192.168.0.254, https://www.tplinkrepeater.net, https://www.tplinkextender.net.
Once you have these details crosschecked from over the product label, proceed with the tp-link RE900XD login process.
Accessing the RE900XD login page
To ensure your computer/smartphone is able to access the login page, you’ll need to connect it to the tp-link RE900XD extender network, first. This is important since the login wizard is based on the local device server, and is only accessible as long as the connection is available. You can either use a wired connection using an ethernet cable or connect the two wirelessly.
For a wired connection, simply connect one end of the ethernet cable to the LAN port on your extender and the other end to the ethernet port on your computer. The computer will auto-detect the network connection. You’ll see a notification flash on yor computer once the connection is successful.
If you choose to connect wirelessly, simply open the Network settings(for laptop) and WiFi settings(for smartphone/tablet). Look for the available wireless networks around the area. Once a list of the same is available on the screen, click on the name of your extender network. You can identify the same using the suffix -_RE900XD or something like that.
Click on the Connect button and your device will connect to the network. A notification displaying a successful connection will be displayed on the screen.
