TP-Link Extender Not Picking Signal Error | Ways to Fix
Finally reaching to the finish line for the fixture of TPLink Extender Setup error of unable to connect to home router or not picking of network signals. There are two basic methods, kindly use one. If that doesn’t help, then lead for the second. All the best to you.
Method One for fixing Extender Not Picking Signal error –
- Kindly connect the computer to your home router using an ethernet cable.
- Check the IP information of the Tp-Link range extender and check for IPv4 subnet mask and IPv4 Default Gateway. Either note them down or keep that window open.
- Open the web browser and complete the TPLink extender login by using the IP address 192.168.0.1 or you can use the URL tplinkrepeater.net
- As you open the setup wizard; go to the settings page. There is an option called ‘Network Settings’
- Enter the value of the IPv4 subnet mask in the Network subnet mask; if it is not there, if it is there then, kindly match the value to be the same. Also, make sure that the value of the Network settings default gateway matches the IPv4 DHCP server of your IPv4 DHCP server value. (The IPv4 subnet mask and IPv4 default gateway values are those that we found in step two. So, do not confuse.)
- Below Network Settings there are DHCP Server settings. Go to that.
- Enable the DHCP server on.
- The DHCP server has Address Lease time, enter the value 1440 there. Also, make sure that the Default Gateway and Primary DNS values are the same as the IPv4 Default Server values of step two.
Method One for fixing TP-Link Not Picking Signal error –
In this method, there is a requirement to login to both setup wizards, home router, and tp-link extender.
Home router Login settings
- Connect the home router to the computer using an ethernet cable.
- Enter the home router login page by using its default IP address.
- Go to the Page settings page where you have the settings of ‘LAN’
- Note down the IP address and Subnet mask value of your home router.
TP-Link extender login settings
- Now do the TPLink extender login, by using the URL or IP default IP address.
- Then Check the option of the DHCP server and enable it. Check for the IP address pool values. These IP address pool value of your home router has to be greater than the IP address pool value of the tp-link range extender.
– For Example, if the home router IP address value is 192.168.0.100 – 192.168.0.199; then, the IP address pool value of the extender has to be 192.168.0.150 – 192.168.0.199
- Now go to the Network page and then its sub-page called settings.
- The Network Setting has two options; enable the one named – ‘Use the following IP address’ because here we are specifying the IP addresses and subnet mask values for the extended network.
- Enter the IP address of your router in the IP address field of tp-link extender’s Network Settings. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is 192.168.0.1
- Coming to DHCP server – firstly, enable it on.
- Enter the IP address pool value has to be entered the same way as we entered in step six; Tp link extender’s DHCP IP address pool value has to be smaller than your home router’s DHCP IP address pool value.
- Default Gateway and Primary DNS values are the same – 192.168.0.1
- Secondary DNS value 8.8.8.8 and save it.
