If you could choose one device from the market that’s fast, flexible and reliable, the TP-Link RE505X AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 range extender would be on top of the list. The extender is equipped with the latest wireless technology, WiFi 6 for faster speeds, and reduced network congestion. One can create a mesh network by connecting to a OneMesh router for seamless all-around and whole-home network coverage. If you have bought a TP-Link RE505X range extender for your home, making the most out of it would require you to configure the network settings. This blog will walk you through the steps to configure your TP-Link RE505X AX1500 WiFi 6 range extender in no time.
Setting up your TP-Link RE505X extender
Configuring the network and device settings on your tp-link extender will require you to power it on and follow a set of instructions. Here are some steps you’ll need to follow to proceed:
Power on your extender
- Firstly, plug your wireless range extender into a power outlet near your wireless router. Make sure they are an adequate distance apart so they can communicate freely.
- Secondly, power on your devices and allow some time for them to boot up. Wait for some time to allow the power LED to turn solid from blinking.
- You can now connect your computer/mobile device to the device’s local network. Open the WiFi settings menu on your computer and look for the available wireless networks.
- A list of the same will be displayed on the screen for you to choose from. Select the name of the wireless network that belongs to your TP-Link extender and click on the Connect button.
Note: The first time that you connect to the network, you won’t require any password since the network that you are connecting to is the local network and not the internet enabled network. Once you are done configuring the network settings, you’ll be needing a password to connect to the device network. Even if you enter an incorrect password later, you’ll still be connected to the device, but only the local network and not the internet.
- Once the computer/mobile device has connected to the extender network, you’ll see a notification telling you about the successful internet connection.
- If you wish, you can also use a wired connection to connect your devices. For that, connect an ethernet cable between the extender LAN port and the ethernet port on your computer. The computer will detect the network automatically and accordingly, connect you to the same.
